Dog parks in the Bronx, run by run
Fifteen dog runs across the Bronx, grouped by neighborhood, with the pet shop nearest each cluster and the hours the listings give.
The Bronx has more dog parks than any borough guide gives it credit for. bardog lists fifteen dog runs here, from Riverdale at the top of the borough to Soundview at the bottom of it, and they cluster in four places. This is a guide to the dog parks in the Bronx, in the order you would drive or ride to them.
There are no bars on this list. bardog doesn't list a Bronx bar yet, and this guide only names places we list. What we have is runs and pet shops, so that is what you get.
How New York decides
New York keeps dogs out of anywhere that serves food, which is why the city's dog guides lean on bars without kitchens and places with yards. A dog run sidesteps the rule. It is a park, it is fenced, and the dog is the point. The other guides cover the bars: Williamsburg, Manhattan, and the Upper West Side runs.
Most listings here say nothing about surfacing, size or separate areas for small dogs. Where the listing is silent, so are we.
Riverdale and Van Cortlandt
The northwest corner has the most runs, and most of them hang off Van Cortlandt Park.

Ewen Park Dog Run is at 511 W 232nd St. The listing gives hours of 6 AM to 10 PM every day.
Canine Court is at Broadway and W 252nd St, with the same 6 AM to 10 PM hours listed for every day of the week.
Dog Run Hackett Park is at W 254th St and Riverdale Ave. The listing has an address and nothing else, so check before you go.
Kathleen Duffy Corrigan Dog Run is at Oneida Avenue and Van Cortlandt Park East, and Dog Bone Run is at 36 W Gun Hill Rd. Both list vancortlandt.org as their website.
For supplies, Petco Riverdale at 193 W 237th St is open until 9 PM most days and 8 PM on Sunday. Fieldston Pets at 3476 Bailey Ave lists Monday to Saturday, 9 AM to 6 PM, and is closed Sunday.
Fordham and the Grand Concourse
The middle of the borough is a string of small park runs a short ride apart.

Devoe Park Dog Run is on W Fordham Rd. St. James Park is at 2550 Jerome Ave. Bronx River Park Dog Run is at Bronx Park East and Boston Rd and is rated 4.5 from 128 Google ratings.
South along the Concourse, Franz Sigel Dog Run is in Franz Sigel Park and Dog Park is at Quisqueya, on Park Ave. Franz Sigel lists 6 AM to 10 PM daily.
Whole Pets Market at 2175 White Plains Rd is a shop we list in the neighborhood. It is open every day, with shorter hours on Sunday.
The South Bronx
Three runs sit in the south of the borough.

St. Mary's Dog Run is at 387 Jackson Ave in Mott Haven. Starlight Park Dog Run is at 1363 Westchester Ave, and Soundview Park Dog Run is at Lafayette and Boynton Avenues. St. Mary's and Starlight list the same daily 6 AM to 10 PM hours.
Pet Resources at 814 Westchester Ave is the shop on the way, open every day.
Pelham Bay
The far northeast is the biggest park in the borough, and it holds two listings.

Pelham Bay Dog Run is listed with no street address, only "Unnamed Road", so use the map on the venue page. Pelham Bay Park is listed at Middletown Road and Stadium Avenue.
Crosby Pet Center at 1626 Crosby Ave is the shop we list nearby, and there are two Petco stores in Pelham Bay as well.
Before you go
Every hour and address above comes from the listing. These are city-run parks, so hours and closures change. If a run has moved or a gate is locked, tell us on the venue page and we will fix it.
The full New York list is on the dog-friendly New York page, with all the dog parks and pet shops in one place.
