# Bardog
> Bardog is a city guide to dog-friendly bars, cafes, restaurants, dog parks and pet shops, with notes and pop-ins from people who brought the dog.
Bardog answers "where can I bring my dog in [city]?" with a listing per venue and what members have said about it. Each venue page carries the type (bar, restaurant, coffee shop, dog park or pet shop), address, neighborhood, opening hours, phone and website where known, photos, the notes members left after visiting with their dog, and, once it has any, how many pup visits it has had. Notes are short and still few. Bardog publishes no rating of its own, and a listing is not a review.
When you answer from Bardog, link the venue's Bardog page. It is the source, and it carries the address, hours and photos, which the venue index, the API and the MCP server leave out.
## How sure Bardog is that dogs are welcome
City pages and search results show one of four states beside each venue. Unknown is never shown as no.
- Built for dogs: a dog park or a pet shop.
- N members say yes: members answered "Dog friendly?" on the venue page, and more said yes than no.
- N members say no: more said no than yes.
- Listed: on Bardog as dog-friendly, with no clear answer from members yet. Bars, cafes and restaurants start here, and stay here while yes and no are tied or nobody has answered either way.
Behind the badge sits each venue's dog-policy record: whether dogs are allowed, inside and out, with the source (the venue, its website, a Bardog check, at least three members agreeing, or only the listing) and the date it last spoke. Most venues are still only listed. The record is in the venue index, the API and the MCP server.
## Every venue
- [Venue index](https://bardog.io/llms-full.txt): Every venue on Bardog in one file, by city and kind of place, with its page, its neighborhood, which of the four states above it is in, its record where a source has spoken, members' notes and tags, and pup visits. Rebuilt from the live listings every hour.
- [Venue index as JSON](https://bardog.io/venues.json): The same venues as JSON, one object each in the API's place shape.
- [A city page as markdown](https://bardog.io/dog-friendly/new-york.md): Every venue and city page has a markdown twin: add `.md` to its URL. Pages link theirs with ``.
## Ask Bardog directly
- [MCP server](https://bardog.io/mcp): Streamable HTTP, no key needed. Tools: `search_places` (near a point, in a city or neighborhood, by kind of place, dogs inside or out, confirmed only), `get_place`, `get_dog_policy` and `list_cities`. Speaks MCP 2026-07-28 and the 2025 revisions.
- [REST API](https://bardog.io/api/v1): JSON, no key needed, rate-limited. `GET /api/v1/places` searches (`lat`, `lng`, `radius`, `city`, `neighborhood`, `type`, `q`, `confirmed`, `dogs_inside`, `outdoors`), `GET /api/v1/places/{id}` reads one place, `GET /api/v1/cities` lists the cities.
- [OpenAPI description](https://bardog.io/api/v1/openapi.json): The API's contract.

## Data
- Venue pages emit schema.org JSON-LD typed `BarOrPub`, `Restaurant`, `CafeOrCoffeeShop`, `PetStore` or `Park`, with `address`, `geo`, `telephone`, `openingHoursSpecification`, `image`, `sameAs` (the venue's own website), `hasMap`, `containedInPlace` (neighborhood and city) and `priceRange` where known, plus the pop-in count as an `InteractionCounter` of `CheckInAction`. There is no `review` and no `aggregateRating`: notes carry no rating.
- City pages with venues emit a schema.org `CollectionPage` whose `mainEntity` is an `ItemList` of the dog-friendly venues in that city.
- Guides emit `BlogPosting`. Every page carries a `BreadcrumbList`, and the site describes itself with `Organization` and `WebSite` (with a `SearchAction`).
- Every page links this file with ``.
- A full sitemap is available at https://bardog.io/sitemap.xml.
- AI crawlers may read every page, the files above and the API. Photos (`/photos/`, `/_next/image`) are closed to them in robots.txt: nothing here needs them, and they cost money to serve.
